The close-out finale is the famed Seafood Festival, sponsored by Alaska Airlines and held at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. Here are three things you need to know about this event.
1. KWFF is one of the longest running festivals of its kind in the country. “Established in 1981 by the non-profit Kapalua Wine Society created to educate, initiate and foster the appreciation of fine wines and culinary products, as well as showcase the natural beauty of Kapalua Resort.”
2. The Seafood Festival serves much more than just seafood. Prepared by Hawaii’s prominent chefs from Maui’s most notable restaurants, dishes include a “seafood specialty” along with a culinary creation (which may or may not be seafood).
True culinary gems were presented by:
Fleetwood’s on Front St.
The Banyan Tree (Chef Alvin Savella winner of the Maui No Ka Oi “Best of the Fest” Gold Award).
